Years ago, I had a day with Dr. Jane Goodall — the day she borrowed my shoes.
It was quiet and ordinary, but it changed everything I believed about how one person can impact the world.

Jane’s message has always been clear: Every individual makes a difference, every day.

Even in her Netflix farewell, Famous Last Words, she left us not with sorrow but with purpose: “Each and every one of you has a role to play. Even small actions will make for great change. Don’t lose hope.”

That call to action is what inspired me to start Seedlings — an online Roots & Shoots group where anyone can join for free: families, empty nesters, classrooms, or anyone ready to grow something good.

Seedlings is part of Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program — a global movement that empowers people of all ages to create community projects that help people, animals, and the environment.

You don’t have to live nearby or have kids in the house. You just have to care enough to start. It’s simple, accessible, and rooted in the idea that small acts of kindness and curiosity grow into big change.

Here’s how to join me — and it’s free!

✅ Step 1: Go to rootsandshoots.org/register to sign up.
(Registration approval usually takes 1–3 days.)

✅ Step 2: While you wait, visit our group page — Seedlings — to check us out and get inspired.

Then pick something to start:
🌿 Spend time in nature — walk, breathe, or have a conversation with a squirrel (they’re excellent listeners).
🤝 Do one small act of kindness — plant something, pick up litter, help a person or animal, or simply notice the beauty around you.
💚 Pick an Impact Project or 1-Click Action on the Roots & Shoots website — or create your own.

Once you’ve done something, come back to the group and share it so we can celebrate together and watch hope grow. 🌱
